My brother has been getting his flat renovated, so he's been staying with me for the past month and a half. We were talking about potential renovations at my place as well, and I decided to finally get a somewhat proper shower. My geyser has also been acting up so I was going to get that fixed. But since my brother replaced his working geyser with a new one, he said I could just take his. So the plan was to toss my old geyser, which was above my bathtub, and put my brother's one on its side above the cupboards in my bathroom. Then I could stick a shower head and taps in the wall above the bathtub where the geyser used to be. And since I got myself a cold/flu on Wednesday, and wasn't going to work yesterday, they could work while I was at home. It all sounded so simple.
Firstly, his old geyser can't be mounted on its side. The only place it could be mounted is where the old one was already, which would make the whole exercise pointless, because I could still live with my old geyser. But I had suddenly gotten used to the idea of having a proper shower, so I decided I'd go out and buy a new geyser that could be side-mounted, and go ahead with the shower-plans.
So off I went with the plumber, even though I was sick, to the hardware store to buy a geyser and some other stuff. While we were gone, his workmen got busy removing my old geyser and started preparing the wall for the piping for the shower and the new geyser. When we got back I went to my room and killed most of the day online while they made lots of noise in the bathroom. By late afternoon, the geyser was hooked up, the pipes for the shower were sort-of in place, and it looked like all they had to do was plaster up the wall.
So they turned on the water again to check that everything was working. It wasn't.
It seems that the water was coming out of the overflow outlet, rather than the hot water outlet. Seems like the geyser wasn't hooked up right. So after much apologies, the plumber told me he would sort it out today. So I get home this afternoon, they're still busy. I peek in, and the wall is still unplastered, so they're still busy with the geyser. This is not good. So after a bit, the plumber asks if they can come in tomorrow to finish the plastering... I don't fancy being woken up at 7am just to have the walls plastered, so I said if that's all that was left, they should rather come on Monday instead. So they turn on the water again to test. Again, nothing. So now it seems clear that the geyser is to blame.
So I told him that I can't spend the weekend without hot water, so he'd rather come in tomorrow morning and get the geyser changed, and finish up everything by tomorrow.
This means that tomorrow morning, I have to be up before 7, to have another cold shower. And I'm still sick. This weekend is going to suck badly :(
